Series of small dry-clay sculptures of body parts. I borrow from Susan Sontag’s Illness As Metaphor, to reflect upon the strategical use of body parts in the reproduction of political discourse, polarization and demagogy. They then serve as amulets for the invocation and prayer of good health and healing.
This is a way to reclaim one’s body without the weight of its discursive connotation and recognize the role of each part within all substance. Each element, or body part and component, is here acknowledged to be individually affected and vulnerable to history, politics, violence and capital.
